Surgical sizes or cloths are pieces of fabric or plastic that are placed on the machines, boards and other objects present in the O.R. to avoid contamination, and get a correct isolation of the area to intervene as well as the surgical site.

Non-woven surgical cloths or sizes are made of synthetic materials such as nylon, rayon and polyester attached by cellulose fibers. These types of cloths provide an excellent barrier, and are resistant to tears. They are usually discarded after a single use.
